A brief history of Ford LTD's
The Ford LTD started as a "LTD" trim option on the 1965 Ford Galaxie 500, then became its own series by 1967. From 1983 to 1991, the LTD was recast as the "LTD Crown Victoria". After that, the "LTD" portion was removed and now exists as simply "Crown Victoria". Thanks to Tom at for the info

Ford Australia also has an LTD model starting in 1973, which follows a different architecture from the American Ford LTD.

( focuses primarily on the full-size American Ford LTD's from 1967-1978)
